Direct answers without avoidable jargon.

World of Golf is an independent knowledge project for English-speaking golfers in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Universal topics follow the Rules of Golf, while regional guides clearly identify country-specific information.
World of Golf is for beginners, residents, travellers and golfers who prefer to read in English while playing in Switzerland, Germany or Austria. You should not have to work through a long, complicated text simply to understand one rule or term.
Each guide begins with a short answer and then adds examples, context and sources. General golf topics apply internationally; access rules, prices and Platzreife information are labelled by country where they differ.
Direct answers without avoidable jargon.
Short answers, practical examples and useful sections.
Country-specific access, prices and Platzreife details are labelled clearly.
World of Golf began during my summer holiday as a personal project. I wanted to build something of my own, learn new skills and create a website that genuinely helps other golfers.
When I was beginning to play, I often looked for a page that answered a question both simply and thoroughly. I usually found either a very short definition or a long article where the answer was difficult to locate. World of Golf is my attempt to close that gap.
I am Tim and have played golf for almost five years. My current Handicap Index is 15.2. My own time on the course has shown me how many questions appear, particularly at the beginning.
I do not claim to be a golf professional. For rules and handicap subjects I use official sources, then explain them in the way I would have liked to receive the answer: directly, clearly and with a practical example.
I am pleased whenever World of Golf helps somebody understand the game and step onto the course with fewer unanswered questions.
Send it to me. I review selected questions and may add a clear new guide to World of Golf.
