How does Stableford scoring work?
Classic Stableford compares your net score on each hole with par. Net par earns 2 points, net bogey 1 and net birdie 3. Better net scores can earn 4, 5, 6 or more points; the scale is not capped at 5.
How are handicap strokes allocated?
Strokes follow the Stroke Index printed on the scorecard. A positive Playing Handicap starts at the lowest SI. A plus-handicap player giving strokes back starts at the highest published SI.
Why does the Playing Handicap matter?
Points are not based automatically on your Handicap Index. They use the Playing Handicap for that round. At a 100% allowance it equals the rounded Course Handicap, while competition terms may specify another allowance.
What happens when a ball is picked up?
If you do not complete a hole or can no longer score a point, mark it as picked up and the calculator awards 0 points. Handicap submissions may be subject to additional club and national-association procedures.
What should I enter for nine holes?
An 18-hole handicap must not simply be divided by two. The nine-hole mode therefore asks for the Playing Handicap issued for that specific nine-hole round. Copy it, par and Stroke Index from the scorecard or club information.
How reliable is the summary?
The calculator applies the data you enter consistently. It cannot detect an incorrect scorecard, local competition terms or penalty strokes omitted from your gross score. The club or Committee’s official result always takes priority.
Stableford calculator questions
What is a good Stableford score?
On 18 completed holes, 36 points represents an average of net par in classic Stableford. A higher or lower total describes that round; it does not automatically define your long-term ability.
Can I score more than 5 points on one hole?
Yes. The official Stableford scale is not capped at 5. A net score four under par, for example, earns 6 points.
Why does ‘Picked up’ return 0 points?
Under Rule 21.1, a player who does not hole out receives 0 Stableford points for that hole.
Should I select a 100% or 95% allowance?
For a general or casual calculation, 100% is a neutral default. In a competition, use the allowance stated in the terms of competition; 95% is common but not universal.
How do I enter a plus handicap?
Enter a plus handicap as a negative number: enter −2 for +2. The calculator displays +2 and gives strokes back beginning with the highest Stroke Index values.
Does World of Golf store my round?
No. The round is stored only in your browser so it can be continued on the same device. There is no account and no transmission to World of Golf.
